Echoes of the Ancestors: Oakhill Stickball

Cherokees have played stickball from time immemorial. Over the course of American history, colonization and forced assimilation stripped so much from Cherokee people. Today, the youth of Oakhill, a small Cherokee community near Jay, Oklahoma, yearn for cultural connection. They’ve answered the call of their ancestors and are proudly building the tradition of Oakhill stickball.
