Country musician Agalisiga “Chuj” Mackey shows the richness of the Cherokee language through his beautiful original songs. Written and performed entirely in Cherokee, Chuj’s music reaches ears that may have never heard the language, while bringing pride to our Native speakers who live immersed in the language every day.
Nothing brings people together quite like good food, and no one knows this better than Cherokee Nation citizen Charles Hopkins Smith. Following in his father’s footsteps, Charles is a restauranteur, owning and operating Leo’s BBQ in Oklahoma City. Carrying the Cherokee values and pride instilled in him by his grandmother, Charles is wholeheartedly dedicated to serving his community.
Cherokee singer-songwriter Austin Allsup is a perfect example of how stories are passed from one hand to the next. Following in the footsteps of his father, Tommy Allsup, Austin has hit the stage and studio performing music all over the world. As a father himself, he passes on the wisdom he’s gathered during his time on the road.
